So, in a previous post I talked briefly about some great movies and TV shows out there that you can watch to learn about small farming. These are not those videos that tell you that farmers are evil and the meat industry is killing the planet. Those videos are made to scare you and I do not support them. I do support the ethical treatment of animals, but most farms already participate in this method. The fact is, on most farms in the United States – animals are treated much better than some children in this country. The videos on my list were chosen because they are very educational and I have personally seen similar farms so I can understand and agree that these videos are truthful. Remember – anyone can be a cat on the internet!
Pop up some popcorn and enjoy!
Amazon Prime
- The Pollinators
- Listen, if you still don’t understand why bees are so important, you need to watch this!
- The Biggest Little Farm
- This is a very interesting story about a farm that came from nothing and is now a magical place.
- Clarkson Farm
- If you were a fan of Top Gear you will love this. It’s hysterical but also very truthful about getting started in farming (even though it’s in the UK and not the US it’s still very apt).
Netflix
- Down to Earth with Zac Efron
- Okay, I know most of this is not about small farming and Zac is a little controversial right now because he’s just moved on into Australia, but he goes to a lot of cool places and there’s some interesting stuff about living in nature here.
- Gather
- This movie is short and talks about indigenous communities in North America. It’s very important to learn how to live with the earth from these communities because they have been doing it a lot longer than the general population.
